The client, who also owns one of Adelaide's most successful nightclubs, Plain Jane, is currently in the process of launching Adelaide's premier rooftop, restaurant, and cigar lounge.

The restaurant specialises in Japanese cuisine, which served as the inspiration for the name "SORA", meaning 'Sky' in Japanese. The client's brief was to develop a cohesive brand identity that encompassed a logo, merchandise, menus, and a website while avoiding any obvious Japanese visual elements. This approach was taken to ensure that the brand did not convey an Asian appearance, as the architectural design draws inspiration from Middle Eastern architecture, characterised by its arched windows.

To achieve this, I avoided the typical use of "Red," which is often associated with Asian designs, and instead focused on a modern interpretation of Japanese calligraphy. The font was crafted to give the impression of being sliced with a samurai sword, reflecting a blend of traditional and contemporary elements. This design approach harmonises with the remarkable interior and exterior architectural features of the establishment.
